Xiaomi Mi M365 electric scooter is a popular name in the world since its release in 2016. This household name has earned much appreciation due to its quality and features in the lower price tag. It is an entry-level scooter that won people’s hearts and the Red Dot award within one year of its launch. 

Most electric scooter lovers may have experienced a ride on Mi 365 as their first electric scooter. Over time many manufacturers replicated its famous design with only a few changes to sell their products in the market. However, even after extensive cloning with different names, Xiaomi M365 electric scooter stood its ground and remained the key player in entry-level scooters.

The M365 has it all from durability, design, pneumatic tires, disc brakes, and application support using Bluetooth. This electric scooter is one of the best electric scooters under the 0 price range. Its price fluctuates and varies but remained under the $600 tag. With the introduction of high-quality and expensive electric scooters, Xiaomi 365 might not be on our best electric scooter list of 2022 but best for entry-level scooters.

On arrival, the Xiaomi Mi M365 electric scooter box has all the required gear, manual, and warranty card in the package. There is an extended nozzle adapter, four screws, charging adapter, hexagonal wrench, quick start guide, user manual, and warranty card in the box.

Xiaomi Mi M365 electric scooter assembly is effortless and takes almost 10 minutes to unbox and assemble. It comes pre-assembled, and you only need to attach the handlebar to the stem of the scooter. After securing it with the help of screws, the scooter is ready for use.

Before using it, charge it entirely to ensure excellent and long-term battery health. The charger takes 5 hours to charge the battery fully. Make sure to clip the handlebar lock before use, as it can collapse into the folding state if not cut in an upward direction.

Scooter Build Quality

For an entry-level electric scooter, the Xiaomi Mi M365 electric scooter build quality is exceptional. It is one of the most appreciated and popular features of this scooter. The overall body and frame are pretty solid and do have sturdy construction.

We have observed no rattles and squeaks when test our Mi 365 scooter. Considering the price, the choice of build quality comes out as exceptional value for money. The choice of lightweight material made the scooter more usable. It increased the scooter’s portability while using the durable material to last long for years of use.

The cable routing on the Mi 365 electric scooter shows a good arrangement. The management of these cables is exceptional. In this price range, attention to detail is quite rare. You won’t expect an under $600 electric scooter to have a lightweight, durable design and exceptional cable routing. However, there is some case where we have seen good cable routing, but overall, they lack features that Mi provides in M365 at this price.

A 250W brushless motor powers Xiaomi Mi 365. The motor can reach a peak of 500W for output that helps it to accelerate at faster rates. Our test on flat terrain managed to get 0 to 15 miles per hour in merely 6.3 seconds. Comparing it with other electric scooters in this range, this is almost 2-3 seconds faster on average.

Xiaomi Mi 365 electric scooter can reach 15.5 miles per hour top speed, impressive on the highest performance mode. You can even increase the speed more using the firmware manipulation that we have explained below.

Riding on the slopes is not a big issue for Xiaomi M365 if the slope is under 10 degrees. Remember that this is an entry-level electric scooter, and getting a good speed till a 10-degree incline is a reasonably good trade. If your scooter slows down, then you can assist the ride with kicking. However, kick-starting is not easy, especially for kids at the start. 

A fun thing with Xiaomi 365 e scooter is that you can increase its top speed, acceleration, and incline performance by doing the modification. Xiaomi Mi M365 electric scooter firmware modification allows you to achieve these features. However, it can bring the travel range down as it but more stress on the battery than the regular running. But getting an extra chunk of performance can be overwhelming over the battery lifetime reduction for some users.

Xiaomi Mi M365 Scooter Range

Xiaomi Mi M365 electric scooter battery can deliver serious performance, and it generates 280 W power. The range differs according to the acceleration and type of terrain. The manufacturer claims the capacity to reach 18.6 miles on a single charge. However, this range claim comes under perfect and controlled conditions.

It is impressive for daily commute as you do not need to keep your scooter on a continuous charging cycle. We have tested many entry-level electric scooters, and they all take much longer to charge the battery. Luckily, Mi 365 only needs 5 hours to complete the charge.

Weight Limit

With an impressive design and mobility, the Xiaomi Mi m365 electric scooter’s weight is only 27 pounds. The lightweight design has two main advantages. Firstly, it makes it easy to carry it between the rides due to less weight. Secondly, lowering the weight helps run the scooter efficiently as it reduces the load on the motor.

The weight capacity of the 365 scooters is not out of the world. An adult having less than 220 pounds weight can comfortably ride the scooter. We advise not to buy this electric scooter for people having more than recommended max weight to prevent any issues.

Portability

It is effortless to carry Xiaomi Mi 365 due to its lightweight design. You can bring it and get to the bus or train without having portability issues. It would be more foldable by considering few changes like folding the handlebar down.

The dimension of this electric scooter is compact. This compact design enables the rider to place in the car trunk or bring on other transportation resources. Its folding mechanism provides an effective solution for portability. 

You can control the folding mechanism at the bottom of the handlebar and the base of the scooter stem. The lock mechanism enables you to move the handlebar. There is a plastic collar for controlling the folding lever, and it prevents the accidental pulling down of the lock during the ride. The features are impressive and straightforward to utilize. 

Frame Durability

The frame shows the same build quality as the overall body of 365 features. The cable management is excellent, while the welds between the parts look durable. The handgrips depict the same texture that they have on the deck. The non-slip design makes them effective.

The folding mechanism of the frame provides practical portability. You can expect the overall frame to have more durability than the electric scooters offered by the competition. Xiaomi has provided an IP54 rating that makes it dust and splash resistant. Overall, the build quality and utility of the frame feel more secure and durable.

Xiaomi MI M365 Deck

The deck of the M365 features the same build which the overall body represents. The ground clearance is comfortable enough to ride for an average adult. The ground clearance is 3.5 inches that are suitable for riding on most terrain without any problems.

However, the ground clearance could be an issue for the terrain having ledges and rocky texture. But overall, the deck sustains wear and tear very well.

Xiaomi Mi M365 electric scooter wheels are pneumatic. The air-filled model provides extra cushioning against road bumps. They are more prone to getting flat, but they are easily tradable with better ride quality and tire traction over solid rubber tires. But the flat tire is not a big issue, especially in the urban area where roads are better. You can avoid flat tires by maintaining the tire properly. 

The pneumatic tires on Xiaomi Mi 365 fill the void left by the absence of the suspension system. The air-filled tires provide a comfortable ride and more cushioning than the combination of solid tires and a suspension system. 

Suspension:

Mi 365 is not the scooter you would like to take off-road as it lacks a suspension system. But during our testing, we have felt that pneumatic tires well replace the suspension system. These tires absorb the road bumps very well and provide enough cushioning to replicate the effect of the suspension system. 

The air-filled tire can perform excellently on urban roads and relatively smooth terrains, but running on rough areas can be drastic. The absence of a suspension system and lower deck height can pose issues when riding Xiaomi Mi M365 electric scooter on ledges and small rocks.

Brakes System:

The redundant brake system on Xiaomi Mi m365 electric scooter is impressive. It consists of one rear disc brake and a front regenerative brake that, in combination, provides reasonable control over the speed. This braking system is more efficient than the dual braking system that other competitors offer in the same price range. 

When checking the braking ability of the M365, we stop it at 15 miles per hour speed, and it took 5 meters to stop the scooter. This is an average performance for a disc brake, and you can expect to perform it equally well in both dry and wet weather.

The main feature that we liked besides the basic features is Xiaomi Mi M365 electric scooter Bluetooth connectivity. The scooter connects with the smartphone using an application. You can download it from the app store or by scanning the manual that comes with the scooter. It keeps you updated with the stats like batter power, travel distance, and scooter speed. 

There is no LED display on Xiaomi 365 scooter. It looks divesting for the users that look for utility in an electric bike. But the Bluetooth application can resolve this issue of a missing LED panel. It can be distracting as you have to pick your smartphone out of the pocket during the ride to check the stats of the scooter.

For ride safety, LED headlights and taillights are present in 365 electric scooters. The headlight is very bright and has increased visibility for throwing light at a longer distance. Its placement on the stem is excellent for better light coverage. The taillight on the rear is comparatively lower and mounted on the fender. The tiny size light provides enough utility as it responds well to the braking and keeps the drivers alert about your scooter slowing down.

The driver can ensure vehicle safety when riding Xiaomi Mi M365 electric scooter as it complies with clause 15 of the United States FCC rules. It also complies with the Canada license-exempt RSS standard that ensures further legality and safety of the scooter. However, we didn’t observe any compliance with the UL certification standard in the scooter manual.

Warranty:

Xiaomi provides a build quality that ensures user satisfaction. Besides the quality, the scooter has a 12-month warranty to improve user trust in the product further. The manual states that it won’t cover the warranty if the user does damage, not according to the given set of instructions.
